Communications
The Communications committee serves to convey information about University Staff Council (USC) and current projects to staff, as well as to channel staff feedback, suggestions, and concerns to appropriate university units and leaders.
The committee is responsible for the oversight of the following initiatives:
- Publishing the monthly Staff Council newsletter. .
- Maintaining the Staff Council website.
- Promoting USC business through all appropriate channels, such as Inside Loyola.
- Partner with HR to effectively communicate issues that relate to staff.
LEEF
The LEEF Committee oversees raising and distributing funds for the Loyola Employee Emergency Fund (LEEF). LEEF offers one-time microgrants to Loyola Employees experiencing no-fault emergencies that have caused financial hardship and is one of primary ways Staff Council enacts a deep commitment to cura personalis, or care for the whole person.

Social Events and Community
The Social Events and Community Committee strives to promote a spirit of unity and collegiality among all university staff. Events sponsored by this committee vary each year, but have included:
- Holiday Spirit door decorating contest
- Virtual trivia
- Wellness events
- Annual Christmas Reception (partner with HR)
- St. Ignatius Picnic (partner with HR)
- Pizza with the President
- Campus walks with colleagues

Staff Development
The Staff Development Committee is responsible for developing, implementing, and assisting with personal and professional development opportunities for staff across all three campuses. Revived in the 2025-206 council year, Staff Development is currently building capacity. Previous programs from this Committee have included a wellness retreat and LUREC, a staff mentoring program, and lunch & learns, among others.

Staff Recognition & Excellence Awards
The Staff Recognition & Excellence Awards Committee recognizes the extraordinary contributions of staff and their integral role in fulfilling the University's mission. This is done through two programs, the Monthly Excellence Awards, promoted through our newsletter and website, and the Annual Staff Excellence Awards, presented at University Convocation each year.
