Saturday of Service

New Students! Join us August 22nd from 9:30am-2:00pm for our annual Saturday of Service.
Meeting location: Damen Student Center, 2nd floor
Arrive no later than 10 am to be placed in a group.
Free lunch and T-shirts for the first 200 participants.
Every year on the Saturday before classes begin, new Ramblers join CSA student leaders and volunteers to serve the neighborhood by gardening, painting, cleaning, and helping out! This is a Welcome Week tradition that every new student is encouraged to experience! Saturday of Service is also a great way to meet your fellow students and learn about how to get involved here on campus. In 2025, over 400 students joined us to serve with 18 sites in 4 local neighborhoods and on campus. This is the perfect way to live out Loyola's mission and be a person for and with others before you even begin classes.
For any incoming students wanting to know what you can expect this fall, here are some details:
What should I know before coming? Volunteers should be prepared to do manual labor outside; wear an outfit you don't mind getting a little dirty and check the weather before coming. Please wear closed-toed shoes and bring your own reusable water bottle. Doors open at 9:30 am. The event is first-come, first-served, and the first 200 volunteers will get a free T-Shirt!
Under 18? We'll have a parent/guardian waiver you can sign in advance. Email serve@luc.edu to request the form.
Mobility needs? We are able to accommodate volunteers with a range of abilities; when you arrive, please let us know if there are any considerations we should know before assigning you to a site. Please email us in advance with any questions!
