January Term 2027
January Term classes meet for 10 days
- Week One: Monday – Friday, January 4 - 8, 2027; and,
- Week Two: Monday – Friday, January 11 - 15, 2027.
Registration
- Registration for J-Term 2027 begins on Monday, October 12, 2026, and closes on Sunday, January 3, 2027.
- Students are only allowed to enroll in one course during J-Term, no exceptions.
- If a January Term class needs to be cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be informed via their 草莓社区 email no later than December 18, 2026.
Waitlists
- A waitlist will be created once a course section reaches full enrollment.
- It is highly recommended that students use the waitlist option when registering. New sections are opened for classes that reach a minimum waitlist limit. Please contact jterm@luc.edu with any questions.
Impact of Incomplete Grades or Course Withdrawals for the January Term
- It is in your best interest to complete all attempted course work for the January term.
- Incomplete grades that convert to the mark of "F" will impact a student's GPA as both marks count toward attempted hours.
- The mark of "W", as an approved withdrawal from a course, does not factor into a student's GPA.
- An "F" and "W" directly affect course completion rates as required by the Federal Satisfactory Academic Program policy. For more information, please refer to the page.
Withdrawing from January Term
- Students are responsible for all tuition and fees once registered. If there are any changes of plans, it is the student’s responsibility to withdraw from. There are no automatic withdrawals from class.
- Students can only withdraw from J-Term through LOCUS.
- The last day to withdraw from the class/term without a grade penalty (no mark of “W” on record) is Wednesday, January 6, 2027. This also allows for a Bursar credit of 100%.
- The last day to withdraw with a grade of “W” is Monday, January 11, 2027, at 11:59pm CST.
- The last day to withdraw with a Bursar credit of 100% is Wednesday, January 6, 2027, at 11:59pm CST.
For the complete registration and withdrawal schedule, please refer to the J-Term Registration and Class Schedule site.
If your academic plans change, you must take action to withdraw from your classes. Failure to attend class does not result in automatic withdrawal or removal of charges from your student account.
