Human Ethics (IRB)

Important Considerations:

  • Studies approved in the CAP system that remained active during the transition to Cayuse require a Legacy submission in the new Cayuse system.

Importantly, Legacy submissions are distinct from follow-on submissions (e.g., Modifications, Renewals, etc.), which require a separate action/submission in the Cayuse system and:

      • Require the investigator to transfer study data from the (accessible) legacy system (i.e., CAP) application to the new Cayuse application
      • Are automatically recognized with the Approval that was granted prior to the systems transition
      • Take approximately 10 minutes
      • Must be created and submitted prior to creating and submitting a separate and distinct follow-on submission (e.g., Modification, Renewal, etc.)
  • Closures for studies initially approved in the CAP system require a significantly abbreviated (single question) version of a Legacy submission be completed before the separate Closure submission can be created
  • Collaborative projects are no longer a separate submission type within the Cayuse system; please create an initial submission and select Collaborative Research under General Information
  • To add investigators to any Cayuse study, send a list of the users, including their First Name/s, Last Name/s, and Email Address/es affiliated with their CITI account to itsservicedesk@luc.edu; It is vital that the email address used to add the investigator to Cayuse be the same as the investigator’s CITI email address, so CITI training records transfer into the Cayuse system
