Placement for Non-Majors
Fall & New Student Orientation
Many courses offered by the dance program count towards credit in Artistic Knowledge and Experience as well as the area of Engaged Learning.
Level 1 classes are reserved for students with little to no dance experience who want to take their ARTISTIC KNOWLEDGE CORE course work.
For levels II-V, interested students should enroll themselves over the summer based on their pre-requisite skills based on the course descriptions (. Students should enroll themselves over the summer.
We will welcome new students during a New Student Orientation at the end of the summer and provide an overview of Dance Program Curriculum, Dance Majors and Minors, and performance opportunities.
Fall 2026 Orientation and Academic Advising
All incoming Dance students level II or above should plan to attend the Dance Welcome Orientation and Academic Advising Session. This will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026 at 10:00a.m.
Location: MUND 409
Students will have the opportunity to meet the faculty, learn about the Dance program at Loyola, receive advising on technique course level placement and learn about extracurricular dance clubs and performance opportunities.
We will also hold orientations for incoming Dance majors and provide information and advising about the Dance minor.
Orientation Schedule:
Non-major and minor dance orientation and advising
10:00a.m.: Welcome Orientation/Course Advising, Dance Minor and Dance Club Welcome and Advising
Dance major orientation
11:00a.m.: Orientation for all incoming BA Dance Students
