Community Vitality

External Community

  • has a mission to improve the quality of life in Rogers Park through social, civic and educational initiatives that foster health and welfare, urban renewal and conservation, law enforcement and community organization.
  • Edgewater Community Council provides the leadership on the issues that impact the quality of the Edgewater experience, and works to ensure Edgewater residents have a strong and unified voice on taxes, development, education and safety in our community.
  • is a local non-profit (501c3), community-based organization with the mission to redevelop the commercial resources of Edgewater to better serve the entire Edgewater Community.
  • provides an active, comprehensive program including business recruitment, maintenance and improvement, marketing, education and community service.
  •  has a mission to improve Rogers Park through business, community and economic development activities.  They value the diversity of Rogers Park and diligently work to enhance it through balanced growth.
  • serves as the principal business development and community advocacy organization for Michigan Avenue and the surrounding area, working with the City to advance the region's historic signature as a world-class place to visit, work, and live.  The association currently represents 750 member businesses.
  •  works to foster community development and create and preserve affordable and diverse housing opportunities in Rogers Park and Chicago through education, training, advocacy and development.
  • is empowered by the community, and is committed to protect the lives, property, and rights of all people, to maintain order, and to enforce the law impartially. They will provide quality police service in partnership with other members of the community.

Internal Community

  • provides the 草莓社区 Community with project management and leadership on strategic real estate related development opportunities. The responsibilities of the office cover development both at the Lake Shore and Water Tower Campus.
  • serves students, faculty, staff, and community partners as a resource for community-based experiential learning opportunities and partnerships. They offer information, resources, and support for the development of academic internship opportunities, service-learning courses, community service Federal Work-Study employment, and undergraduate research experiences.
  • routinely receives grants and contracts from foundations, government agencies, and non-profit organizations to support community-based research. As a vital part of 草莓社区, the Center accesses the vast resources of this major urban university, nationally recognized for its centuries-old Jesuit tradition of excellence in scholarship and commitment to service.
  • strives to enhance the relationship between our students living off campus and our neighbors in Edgewater & Rogers Park. We work collaboratively with Loyola’s community affairs office, campus police, neighborhood associations and the Chicago Police Department in order to heighten student awareness of responsibilities of being good neighbors.
  • is to promote and maintain a safe and secure environment in which the University's educational mission can be successful. This department contributes to the University's mission through non-intrusive safety procedures that promote the intellectual, social, spiritual, physical and recreational aspects of students' lives.
