How to Collaborate with Us
How to Collaborate with Us
The Center for Faculty Development collaborates with campus partners to provide a holistic and integrated ecosystem of opportunities that enrich all aspects of a faculty member’s professional experiences, from teaching to research to leadership to service.
Within that ecosystem, we offer opportunities for all of us invested in working with and supporting faculty to coordinate our programming, communications, and information-sharing so that faculty can more easily find relevant and valuable services, resources, events, and professional development experiences.
Centralizing and aligning planning and outreach also benefits campus partners by reducing competing or duplicative opportunities and communications to better reach our target audiences and by increasing our knowledge-sharing so we can better understand and respond to faculty and university needs and priorities.

Consult the Faculty Development Planning Calendar
Before scheduling an event or setting a deadline, check out what other faculty-focused opportunities may be happening so you can choose a date and time that sets your program up for success. Click on any entry to learn more about it, such as who is organizing it and the type of opportunity.
Calendar items are color-coded based on the following areas of focus:
- Grey: Career Advancement
- Purple: Mentoring
- Blue: Mission & Values
- Yellow: Online Learning
- Green: Scholarship & Research
- Red: Teaching & Learning

Share and Promote Opportunities
What can I promote?
We invite you to share any of the following faculty opportunities:
- An EVENT that occurs at a specific date and time.
- A PROGRAM, which is typically a series of events grouped together or an ongoing professional development experience (e.g., a self-paced course).
- A COMMITTEE, a short- or long-term group that works on a specific project, goal, or charge.
- An OPPORTUNITY, everything else (e.g., an application deadline, a new resource, or a service announcement).
Where will my opportunity be promoted?
By sharing and promoting opportunities through the Center for Faculty Development, we will advertise your opportunity through the following channels of your choosing:
- Fac-post listserv: A required email communication channel for all faculty. Faculty can't opt out! Each opportunity has it's own communication to maximize visibility.
- University Calendar: We will create the calendar event on your behalf.
- Loyola News or Inside Loyola: We will work directly with UMC to advocate for the inclusion of faculty-focused content.
- Center for Faculty Development Communications: While CFD will primarily use the first three channels for communicating with faculty as well, we will occasionally send out communications to targeted faculty audiences based on specific initiatives, such as New Faculty Orientation. We are happy to include relevant campus partner information in those communications.
What happens after the opportunity ends?
The person listed as the main contact will receive a "Post-programming Reporting" survey that will ask them to report on different aspects, such as the number of participants and who participated. We aggregate the data collected to share with campus partners so that we can all learn about what works and how we can improve. For example, we can learn what days/times on which campuses tend to yield the highest participation rates for future planning.
Each summer, we share with faculty a transcript of all the ways we know they participated in professional development and service so that they can be sure to include it in their annual review or promotion materials. We also ask them to complete an impact survey to reflect on what they learned and applied from these different opportunities. The results of the impact survey are shared with all participating campus partners.
Complete this form to share and promote your opportunities for faculty.

Airtable Automations
How to automatically send customized and personalized emails and calendar invites through Airtable. Requires that RSVP form is also in Airtable.
- Follow this automation when you are hosting a one-time event, such as a conference, guest speaker, or single workshop.
- . For example, someone signing up for a book club is expected to attend the three events that comprise the book club.
- . For example, you offer the same workshop on different days, times, and locations and only expect registrants to pick one of the offerings.
