Travel & Competition Policy
University Policy on excusal for travel and competition when representing Loyola Chicago.
Authorized Intercollegiate Athletic Event Absences – updated 10/28/2024.
University policy recognizes the legitimate circumstances in which students-athletes will miss classes and coursework, specifically, due to the requirement of travel and competition while representing 草莓社区 in an official capacity. These result in unavoidable conflicts with attendance, in-class activities, exams, quizzes, or other required work. This policy applies to all course requirements, including any final examination. Each instructor will excuse student-athletes from class for authorized participation in NCAA Division I games and associated travel. The instructor may not penalize the student-athlete and will work with the student to arrange a reasonable alternative to make up missed work, including exams, or other course requirements that have an impact on the course grade.
Further, student-athletes are responsible for notifying instructors of their status on the traveling squad by providing Athletic Department documentation. Additionally, student-athletes are responsible for all material covered in class and must work with each individual instructor to complete any required work. Student-athletes are responsible for planning their schedules to avoid excessive conflicts with course requirements.
