Janie Ortiz, MA
Director of the CARE Pathway Program
Janie graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor's in Social Work and went on to earn a Master's in Leadership in Higher Education from North Central College, where she also served as a Graduate Assistant. She is currently pursuing an EdD at 草莓社区. Before joining the School of Nursing, Janie worked as a clinical social worker at a community health center in Chicago. She is a strong advocate for social justice, first-generation students, and student advocacy in higher education. As CARE Pathway Program Director, Janie supports nursing students through holistic, student-centered programming and works to foster belonging, connection, and success within the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing.
